Working with the elders and youth of an aboriginal community, SMSL designed and facilitated a community-based planning project. Community members and workers are utilizing the resulting document to build community capacity and to implement community-driven programs and services. We co-designed a public relations strategy and provided media training to the Directors of a health board. Their implementation of the strategy served to reduce community concern related to changes in its health care system. On two occasions we have designed and facilitated five-year strategic planning processes for a community library. The resulting document and plan was used by the Board of Directors and senior staff to improve services and maintain government funding. SMSL has designed a progressive community engagement plan for an energy company to enhance working relationships with its many stakeholders and to garner support for their project.
